Nusa Dua, BALI, August 2020 – The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, in cooperation with the Indonesian Red Cross, organized a blood donation event for the hotel’s associates on 26th August 2020. This event takes place every 3 months at the Resort to support the Indonesian Red Cross’ constant need for lifesaving blood.

At the specially prepared venue, the staff from all departments were given a basic health & blood screening check to ensure that they were fit to donate blood. Those who passed then proceeded to donate blood. In total, there were 65 participants.

“The donation is a hugely tangible social contribution”, said Jamal Hussain, General Manager. “We all support this noble cause as “the next life you safe could be your own”.

The hotel regularly holds similar CSR events to spread awareness and encourage more people to care for society.

Bali, August 2020 – In line with its continuous commitment to sustainable practices, the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa converted one of their landscaped gardens into a hydroponic garden, growing a variety of greens such as bok choy, cucumber, eggplant and chilies. This allows the resort to use their own organically grown vegetables to serve at its restaurants.

Started in May, the plants are grown in hydroponics or soilless system. This method of gardening uses water to dissolve nutrients that are usually taken from the soil, the plants’ roots are suspended in the mineral-rich water allowing them absorb the moisture and essential nutrients needed to fully grow. The nutrient rich water is collected from the Lotus pond at the Wedang Jahe Restaurant. This allows the plants to grow organically and pesticide-free too.

The hydroponic method allows for a much shorter growing cycle than traditional planting (around 2 – 6 weeks) and is not restricted by the seasons. Throughout the process, the garden has produced about 7kg of bok choy and 2kg of red and green chilies and is completely accessible to guests who would find this interesting to view.

This certificate guarantees that the hotel has implemented the “New Normal” standards and measures according to the requirements set out by the WHO and the Indonesian government for the tourism sector.

The Bali Government’s verification team visited the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, Bali on 24th July 2020 for the official “Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment Protocol Verification” associated with the “New Normal” tourism standards in line with the Covid-19 prevention guidelines.

The Assessment team inspected the resort for completeness and accuracy of the new measures relating to the Covid-19. A detailed on-site review of standard operational procedures covered the three main areas: Product, Service and Management.

Bali, July 2020 – The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa has completed this year’s first baby turtle release on 27 & 29 July 2020. The Resort released 195 baby turtles from the hatchery to the ocean.

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, social responsibility and wildlife, the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa works closely with a local Turtle Conservation group “Bali Sea Turtle Society”. The turtle eggs are carefully retrieved and relocated to a safer location to ensure they can naturally incubate. The baby turtles can then hatch safely in a secured environment.

Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa has released so far 2500 baby turtles into their natural habitat in the shores of Nusa Dua since 2013.

BALI, July 2020– Siloam Hospitals Group, one of the most progressive and innovative healthcare providers in Indonesia conducted a Risk Management Certification Program and Training associated with Covid-19 readiness and education.

Siloam Hospitals Group’s assessor team reviewed the resort’s operations and provided a clear plan on how to implement global practices to minimize the risk of infection in workplaces. A full review of all relevant areas of resort’s facility was conducted to assess the risk of viral infection for the staff and guests.

The assessment was performed at every touchpoint where staff and/ or customers interact, a comprehensive review of all relevant policies, documents and protocols including any processes done with external companies to identify infection risks. Lastly, an interview was conducted with staff to assess the effectiveness and compliance of existing protocols and systems.

As part of their certification program, Siloam Hospitals Group also hosted the “Infection Prevention and Control in Hotel” training session for 30 internal trainers in the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, Bali who will then be providing training and guidance to all the other hotel staff on a regularly basis.
